Thankful for Books and For You!
With Thanksgiving this week in the U.S., I wanted to take just a moment to share some gratitude here on my blog. I'm thankful for so many big things-- family, friends, health & safety-- but also little things like my first sip of coffee in the morning and the comfort of my favorite fleece blanket.
I also feel a deep gratitude for something that has been an outlet and companion for most of my life. Books!
Characters in books are some of my oldest friends. You probably feel the same way! I can well remember my parents reading stories to me long before I learned to read the words myself. When I finally could make sense of the letters on the page, a whole universe opened to me right there on the bookshelf. I read for pleasure throughout my childhood and teen years and into young adulthood. Now my reading life isn't perfect, but it's a constant source of joy, escape, and renewal.

Books offer me wisdom and comfort, help and respite, adventure and knowledge. Books give me a window to the world. Stories are a gift that you can give again and again. A story is never used up no matter how many times it's shared. In fact, sharing books with my own children is one of my greatest parenting joys.
All this brings me to another thanksgiving. I am grateful for you! Thank you to everyone who reads my little book blog. I'm truly thankful for your time and encouragement. I have much more planned for the future, and I hope you'll enjoy what's coming over the next few months.
In the meantime however, I'll be focused on family and food this holiday week. We'll also continue one of our favorite traditions, watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! We watch as a family while snacking on everything Snoopy serves to his human friends-- toast, pretzels, popcorn, and jelly beans.
How will you be celebrating Thanksgiving in your household? Do you have any unconventional traditions in your family or friend group? I'd love to hear about them in the comments.
Best wishes for further reading!
