Christmas Day is almost here!
We're entering the final countdown in the holiday season. You may be feeling excited and happy. You may be feeling a little agitated and sad. There's a good chance you're feeling a bit overwhelmed from still trying to do all the things. If you're feeling more frantic than festive right now, please allow me to give you the best gift you'll get this Christmas. To be more precise, please allow me to point you toward the best gift you'll give yourself-- and it won't cost a dime.
Grant yourself a little grace this Christmas, and a little more time. No, we can't add more hours to the day, but not every holiday happening has to be done before Christmas. It's true! While you probably want to get gifts wrapped by the big day, other deadlines are more flexible than you may imagine.

After all, there are 12 Days of Christmas. Historically, Christmas is not a single day, but a season stretching from December 25th to January 6th, signifying the span of time between Jesus' birth and the arrival of the Three Wise Men. The holiday officially ends nearly two weeks after Christmas Day with Epiphany, also known as Three Kings' Day or Twelfth Night. In England during the 1500's for example, Christmas celebrations were held throughout the 12 days with much merriment and some mischief.
What does this have to do with you? I'm guessing there are one or two things (or more) on your holiday to-do list you haven't yet marked off. Instead of running yourself ragged in these final days, give yourself permission to enjoy Christmas after Christmas morning.
Didn't bake cookies with the kids? They'll taste just as sweet on December 26th.
Didn't watch that beloved Christmas movie? You'll still laugh or cry or both on the 27th.
Didn't drive out to see that amazing holiday lights display? Many will still be shining bright until the New Year.
Didn't do the self-care you promised yourself would be a priority? Any day of the year is the right time for this.
Whether you stretch out the holiday for a few extra days or embrace the entire 12 Days of Christmas, you can add joy to your season by taking the stress out of the final days before it really begins. This is perhaps the best gift you can give yourself, and your family, this year and every year!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and as always, Best Wishes for Further Reading!
